Meet Jason. He’s a senior principal engineer based in Arm’s Seattle office, working at the biting point between AI software and next-gen hardware. We spoke with him about how he approaches innovation, what the 10x mindset means to him, and why Arm is the place where he can bring his boldest ideas to life.

About Arm

Arm's Compute Subsystems are designed to help its silicon partners speed time to market, while focusing valuable design resources on building differentiated, market-customized solutions at scale.

What It's Like to Work in Engineering at Arm

What exciting projects are you working on?

Jason
Senior Principal Engineer • Arm

I’m currently working on accelerating real-world AI applications, from large language models to computer vision. That means working across Arm’s central processing units, graphics processing units and neural processing units across mobile, IoT and data center platforms. Our team develops benchmarking and performance-optimization engines that span the full software stack, from APIs and model architectures to microkernels. We uncover bottlenecks, deliver measurable gains, and drive efficiency across diverse compute platforms.

What excites me most about this work is the opportunity to drive the co-evolution of hardware and software. My team helps translate deep performance insights into innovations that make AI faster, more efficient and more accessible. It’s incredibly rewarding to see those improvements scale from the smallest edge devices to the largest data centers, shaping how AI works in the real world.

Why Engineers Should Build Their Careers at Arm

What makes Arm a rewarding place to be?

It's being at the frontier of innovation. We’re helping define what future computing looks like before it becomes reality. Every project connects deep AI workloads with evolving hardware, turning tough performance challenges into opportunities for real breakthroughs.

What makes Arm truly special, though, is the people. We know the work we do here drives progress across the entire ecosystem.

What the 10x Mindset Means

  • "Dreaming Big: It's about who we are, how we collaborate and the ambition behind what we build."
  • "Staying Open to New Ideas: We find smarter, more scalable ways to solve the problems we face here and now."
  • "Challenging Each Other: The 10x mindset reminds us to take ownership and think beyond constraints."

What Engineers Should Know Before Applying to Arm

What advice would you give to the next generation of engineers?

I would tell the next generation of engineers to think across the full stack, from the user experience down to the hardware that makes it possible. We know that AI is so much more than a tool; it’s a collaborator that amplifies how we can think, design, and build.

Arm’s strength in low-level systems gives us an incredible foundation. We’re going to connect those capabilities to real-world applications and user experiences that matter. My advice is to be bold in your dreams, experiment often, and remember that the most powerful innovations come from bridging disciplines. That’s how we’ll continue creating technologies that redefine what’s possible.
