Chicago start up FARMIST is creating THE place for small farmers to find, share, and organize information. We are excited to announce that we are finalists in the Volt Crowd Challenge and have great holiday gifts for this crowd-funding campaign for off-farm city-folk too.

Why FARMIST? While there is a lot of new agricultural research and information available, it is not easy for farmers to search for it, and a lot of the latest information doesn't reach the farmers who need it most. Farmist is THE online platform for small farmers to find, share, and organize the most relevant agricultural information and communicate with each other. Farming is hard, and we need our small farmers to succeed. Farmist will help our small farmers do their jobs a little better by helping them find the best resources, together.

The vision: Farmers are busy and the work is often solitary. And succeeding in farming is hard. But if farmers could band together to share their best agricultural tips, information, and resources and even coordinate with each other, they could become more successful and improve our food and agriculture system, making it more sustainable.

The problem we're solving: We realized that there was no easy, comprehensive platform for small farmers to share their best information on the web. And small farmers are busy. They don't have much time to conduct major searches or browse what the latest agricultural tips are. So we're building THE place for small farmers on the web.

Where we are: We are undergoing internal testing of Phase I of the platform and will be releasing it for BETA testing soon and then full release!

If you're interested in our food and farming system, join our conversation on our Facebook page and pass the word onto the small farmers you know! Or sign up to receive more information at www.farmist.org.
