Chicago, IL – November XX, 2012- Adage Technologies, a Chicago-based leader in website and application development, announced the launch of their new Windows 8 application ‘Metra Tracker’. The app helps commuters track trains operated by Metra, the commuter rail agency serving Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane and McHenry counties in the Chicago area. This new app is available for free in the Windows Store.
‘Metra Tracker’ allows users to track their train schedule in an easy-to-use format. Highlights of the new app include geo-tracking services that recognize a user’s location, real-time updates for the next available train, and multiple route settings.
“We developed this app with the user in mind. Our goal was to build an app for the Windows 8 platform that we would want to use,” said Roy Chomko, President of Adage Technologies. “With ‘Metra Tracker’, the user can view their preferred routes, upcoming departure times and any delays posted for their route. The Windows 8 Live Tile feature is really what tops the whole experience off, allowing users to quickly view this information on their home screen without having to launch the app.”
Developed using Windows 8 and Visual Studio 2012, ‘Metra Tracker’ utilizes Microsoft’s newest and most innovative technology releases. Highlights of Windows 8 include real-time updates to applications, integration with users Windows live accounts, which removes the need for multiple logins, both touch and desktop capabilities, as well as convenient snap views that allow users to run multiple applications at once. Adage Technologies hopes to inspire other firms and developers to begin building Windows 8 applications as well.
“Being among the first using Windows 8, we wanted to take advantage of all that the platform had to offer,” Chomko added. “The end product is a very intuitive and customizable app that train riders will be able to use quickly at their home, workplace or on the run.”
Other key features of ‘Metra Tracker” include timely displays for the next three available trains as well as the ability to save regular routes for fast access to data.
‘Metra Tracker’ is sponsored and operated entirely by Adage Technologies. For more information or to download ‘Metra Tracker’, visit: https://apps.microsoft.com/webpdp/en-US/app/metra-tracker/ffc07491-ada7-4178-9bbd-289a2d4563e7.
