Castelion, a Torrance-based company specializing in hypersonic defense technology, recently secured a $350 million Series B funding round co-led by Altimeter Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Blackbeard is Castelion’s first hypersonic weapon engineered for industrial-rate output. The company has manufacturing operations in New Mexico, California and Texas, and it plans to expand manufacturing and its workforce with its new funding.

Castellion’s new capital will enable it to integrate Blackbeard with U.S. Army and U.S. Navy operational platforms. The company will also invest in its 1,000-acre solid rocket motor manufacturing campus, Project Ranger, a New Mexico facility that will produce thousands of Blackbeard missiles per year and create regional high-skilled jobs. Its fresh funding will also facilitate continued multi-service platform testing in 2026.
