Sydney-based navigation and autonomous systems company Advanced Navigation has raised $110 million in a Series C funding round led by Airtree Ventures, with participation from Quadrant Private Equity and the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation, among others.
In a statement on Wednesday, Advanced Navigation said the funding reflects a growing global push for alternatives to GPS as reliance on traditional satellite navigation becomes increasingly risky due to threats such as electronic warfare and limited access in degraded environments.
CEO Chris Shaw said in the statement that industries can no longer depend on a single navigation solution.
“The era of relying on a single silver bullet for navigation is over. Across defense, energy transition, humanitarian response and autonomous missions, certainty is required where GPS can no longer be trusted,” he said.
Advanced Navigation is addressing this shift through a multi-layered approach that uses multiple sensors to maintain accurate navigation even when GPS signals are degraded or lost.
Alongside the funding, Advanced Navigation announced plans to expand further into the United States and Europe, which already account for roughly 80 percent of its revenue.
