Where’s Nellie: Never Lose Your Dog

71 Backers, $8,156 of $100,000 Raised, 8 Days Left

Sure, it might seem ridiculous to put a GPS device on your dog, but that sentiment will likely change the first time Fido runs away. This project, while expensive, will allow you to put a GPS dongle on your dog’s collar so you can track their every move. The collar is cold, water, heat, dirt, mud and shock proof – so just maybe your dog won’t find a way to destroy it. The real kicker though, is the device will only need to be recharged yearly, so it should be working when you actually need it.

Ultra Light Professional LED Smart-Hula Hoops

1 Backer, $100 of $4,500 Raised, 12 Days Left

In the race to make every device in your home ‘smart,’ it was only a matter of time before somebody thought old fashioned rings of plastic were just too stupid to function. Apparently the idea for these bad-boys came out of Austin’s local hooping community (which is apparently a thing), where there is a strong demand for ultra-light LED hula-hoops (the current ones are just too heavy). As absurd as all that sounds, these SMART hula-hoops will be programmable by USB drive, and have a microprocessor and internal memory allowing for a limitless array of patterns and colors. Humans may not be able to cure cancer, but we’ve taken hula-hoops to a whole new level.

Computer-Based Dyslexia Intervention

10 Backers, $248 of $499 Raised, 8 Days Left

Way more serious than the other projects on this list, this Kickstarter wants to raise money to create a computer-based reading program that’ll help kids with dyslexia learn to read – truly a good cause. It’s actually really close to its goal (and the goal is super-reasonable), so if you’re trying to pre-atone for your behavior this upcoming weekend, throw them a couple of bucks.

Beecaster: 100% User Generated Radio

2 Backers, $75.00 of $3,500 Raised, 11 Days Left

Upload audio files to Beecaster and it’ll put add them into a queue along with everybody else’s audio files – then it’ll all be played on an internet radio station. The station will be all user generated, all anonymous and probably pretty insane to actually listen to. Just imagine the crazy political rantings and horrible garage band music you’ll hear when this baby goes live. In all seriousness though, this station could become a really cool forum for some pretty creative stuff that would never make it onto corporate radio -- plus, it'll be global.

Beard My Baby: A Campaign to End Infant Beardlessness

FULLY FUNDED

It’s sad, isn’t it? The multitudes of poor toddlers forced to crawl around, completely beardless. Basically, the project is to create an app that allows you to digitally add a beard to your toddler’s face. Yes, it’s stupid and ridiculous, but it’s also hilarious and awesome. This project has actually already been funded, but it was just too good not to be here.
