Look out for a big blue bus full of potential investment rolling into Austin today.
French accelerator and VC fund 33entrepreneurs is hosting a pitch event in nine cities across the United States this summer, and today's stop is Austin. Local startups specializing in wine & spirits, food and travel have the opportunity to present their startup to a panel of Austin judges for a chance to win a $100,000 investment and three months in France at their accelerator.
“We have many reasons to go to Austin," Founder Vincent Pretet said. "First, with SXSW Austin is really on the global map...second, we know that in Austin there are lots of new food initiatives and we really think that in Austin we are going to meet a lot of great food entrepreneurs.”
Judges include UT Austin's Robyn Metcalfe, Tech Ranch Marketing Director Jamie Sutton, SABRE's Sean Arena, and 3 Day Startup CEO Cam House.
“Those judges become an ambassador for what we do," Pretet said. "We are building a network around the globe of people who know us and know how we access startups and in the future we want to have a profound impact on the industries of wine & spirits, food and travel.”
Three participating startups will be chosen from the group (2 in food, wine, spirits and 1 in travel) to continue on to 33entrepreneurs's nationwide pitch contest.
The event will take place at Tech Ranch.
33entrepreneurs is based in Bordeaux, France and the tour began in New York City and will finish in San Francisco.
