The Airbnb Communications team delivers campaigns that keep Airbnb front of mind, helping to stimulate word-of-mouth and supporting direct traffic to the site. We’re seeking a senior leader to oversee and develop the international Icons roadmap and support a Global Communications team that is developing year-round campaigns to insert Airbnb into a wide range of pop culture conversations. 

The difference you will make:

This role will proactively oversee and manage the international division for Airbnb Icons and Regional Consumer Communications campaigns that keep Airbnb front of mind, stimulate word-of-mouth and drive positive sentiment for the brand. This Senior Lead will be a member of the Global Entertainment & Consumer Communications team, and work closely with the North America sub-team as well as the international sub-team based around the world. 

A typical day:

  • Oversees the international division for Icons, working closely with Regional Leads in EMEA, APAC, LATAM and China to deliver the Icons roadmap. 
  • Collaborate and coordinate with global pillar leads within the Entertainment & Consumer Communications team to oversee and maintain the health of the international roadmap.
  • Oversees external agency infrastructure that supports Icons in EMEA, APAC and LATAM
  • Cascades regular updates to Senior Communications leadership, ensuring leadership is aware, tracking and budgeting for the International Icons pipeline and Regional communication team activities
  • Oversees international operations for Icons and supports Local Consumer Campaigns to ensure that the international team can execute flawlessly, and help remove any blockers at the HQ level.
  • Act as a connective tissue between Global Consumer & Entertainment team and regional teams for all international consumer campaigns across Icons, Celebrity Hosting and Local Consumer Campaigns.
  • Partners closely with Channel Communications including social, influencer and creative leads to ensure the international team is adequately resourced to execute their roadmaps.
  • Develops and manages budget trackers for global operations, working closely with Legal, FP&A and Marketing to streamline processes, identify and remove blockers.
  • Proactively develop solutions, find efficiencies and improve processes across the international team.
  • Ability to manage key external agency partners and third party brands, including drafting scopes of works, reviewing creative proposals, term sheets and executing contracts.
  • Synthesize multiple diverse perspectives into actionable solutions and next steps.
  • Work effectively within a high-performing international team with evolving priorities and rapidly changing timelines. 

Your expertise:

  • 12+ years professional experience in Global or International Consumer Communications and/or Global Brand Marketing and/or Brand Partnerships
  • Extensive experience working with international teams, based outside of North America 
  • Empathetic team leader with experience leading international teams and managing multiple direct reports 
  • Flexible working hours to accommodate key meetings in international time zones and ability to travel to HQ. 
  • A passion for pop culture, travel and trends
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to zoom out, see the bigger picture and also dive into the details when required 
  • Proficient at Google Workplace, Keynote and Excel 
  • Experience working with and managing multiple senior stakeholders on cross-functional projects
  • Proactive self-starter with a proven track record of taking initiative
  • The ideal candidate is proactive, engaged, and solution-oriented
