Stack Engineering Intern
We are looking for a Chemical Engineering Intern to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies, based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning, deep learning systems, and software engineering. Background in dynamic control systems and data science would be a plus.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- As a part of engineering product development team, the individual is expected to perform routine gas analysis of different process streams in Bloom's hotbox.
- Work within the Hotbox Engineering team to develop new fuel processing materials, fuel processing systems and solutions, and lead the implementation of new technologies in production
- Draw on extensive expertise in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science to identify promising catalyst materials, define functional requirements, establish and execute test plans and characterization studies on the component level, and evaluate performance and degradation against established metrics
- Evaluate gas processing solutions and/or systems for cleaning up incoming or process gas and design new, improved or optimized design for cost, form, fit and function.
- Generate and review process flow diagrams and plumbing and instrumentation diagrams for gas processing systems
- Support Bloom Energy Supply Chain team members with vendor selection and evaluation
- Participate in project meetings to provide status updates on material and design deliverables
- Apply statistical techniques to analyze production and/or field data to learn about product performance, reliability, and yield
- Conduct cross-functional FMEA reviews (failure mode and effects analysis) to quantify risks of new technologies and processes, identify risk mitigations, and lead risks to closure
Skills and Experience:
- BS/MS degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and meet deliverable deadlines amidst changing requirements, deadlines, and priorities
- Strong self-starter and team player, with a "can-do" attitude. Highly resourceful, and a "big picture" thinker
- Experience with design of experiments (DOE) and software such as SolidWorks, JMP, and/or Minitab a plus
- This internship is scheduled to begin June 2024 and end on approximately August 2024.

Salary Ranges:
$20.70 - $31.55
