Job Description

ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking aSoftware Engineerto join ourteam that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This role will make an impact by meeting the future needs of our FAA customer that includes securing data across networks in theenterprise.

  • The person in this position should be a highly technical computer scientist that will be responsible for providing software analysis, design/development, testing, and system integration for the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) program. Applicable functional areas include proficiency and knowledge of real-time design, development, testing and interfacing of software and computer hardware systems. Comprehensive software development skills and experience with programming languages used for National Airspace Systems (NAS) and NAS support systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • The person in this position will work specifically with the STARS Software Development Test Team using C/C++, shell scripting, database concepts (SQL), Red Hat Linux, Redmine, Collaborator, and various homegrown tools.
  • STARS Lab assignments are essential
  • Perform software analysis and implement code fixes
  • Perform peer/code reviews
  • Ability to write test plans and procedures
  • Ability to work individually and within a group/team
  • Ability to take direction and initiative; ability to provide direction and training
  • Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in ComputerScience or Math, or a Bachelor'sdegree in another technical field

    with a minimum of thirty (30)semester hours in a combination ofmathematics, statistics, and

    computer science and twenty (20)years of related work experience ina computer science or math fieldORMaster's Degree in any field ofstudy with a minimum thirty (30)semester hours of either undergrador grad study in a combination ofmathematics, statistics, andcomputer science and sixteen (16)years related work experience in acomputer science or math field.ORPhD or Doctorial in a relatedfield with a minimum ofthirty (30) semester hours ofeither undergrad or gradstudy in a combination ofmathematics, statistics, andcomputer science and six (6)years of related work

    experience in a computerscience or math field.

  • Technical Tester/Software Developer with knowledge in C/C++, Shell Scripting, UNIX/LINUX, Microsoft products, and the ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.
  • All candidates are required to have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.

Preferred:

  • Technical Tester/Software Developer with the required knowledge plus Database Concepts, STARS/NAS and Red Hat Linux
  • Experience in STARS/NAS, Test, Redmine (or another project management tool)

Bonus:

  • Technical Tester/Software Developer with the required and preferred knowledge plus experience in HTML/XHTML, JSON, and SQL

Security:

  • US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US
  • Has been living in the US for at least the past 3 years
  • Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Desk/lab located at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center in EHT, NJ
  • Limited (25% or less) travel to locations throughout the US
