Job Description

The Senior Field Operations Engineer will play a critical role in supporting field operations related to our underwater products and services. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and efficient deployment, operation, and maintenance of subsea assets in various offshore environments. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to plan and execute field campaigns, troubleshoot technical issues, and optimize operational processes.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assemble and disassemble robotic systems according to specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on robots including cleaning, lubrication, and calibration.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in the robots.
  • Conduct tests and diagnostics to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Assist with the installation, integration, and manufacturing of robotic products and systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback and suggest improvements to robot designs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Travel to field sites for robot deployment and provide on-site technical support as needed.
  • General Shop duties.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree or equivalent in robotics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience working with AUVs, UUVs or similar robotic systems.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally and work in remote locations for extended periods.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing technical issues in robotics equipment.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred 

  • Bachelor's degree in robotics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with programming and operating robots using control software.
  • Knowledge of underwater sensors, cameras, and imaging systems.
  • Familiarity with underwater communication protocols and networking.
  • Certifications in ROV operations or related fields.
  • Previous experience in the offshore industry or marine research.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for testing and calibration.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee will also be frequently required to stand.
  • The employee must frequently lift, push, or pull equipment at a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, maneuver in tight spaces, and stand for extended periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment and in industrial environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This role will require travel to field sites. Conditions may include exposure to heat, loud environments, small vessel maritime conditions, and 12-hour shifts.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
