The Role

Toast is driven by building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love.

Toast’s new Customer Experience Platform owns the common experiences every Toast customer has including marketing, onboarding, and customer support; along with common solutions such as search and nav, web and mobile frameworks, communications, account settings, AI frameworks, and product led growth. This role has a mix of teams with direct products and measurements, for example Onboarding, and platform teams such as search and navigation that every product team at Toast interacts with to provide a seamless and consistent experience.

This Senior Director is responsible for all engineering in the Customer Experience platform and reports to the VP of Engineering for Commerce. 

About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

  • Lead a team of 50+ engineers & managers  
  • Partner directly with our Head of Product Design and Vice President of Product Management to establish & execute our Customer Experience long term plans
  • Developing and working through managers and principal engineers
  • Accountable for delivering both roadmaps and engineering quality

  • Experience delivering customer experience solutions to production at scale
  • Technically savvy and able to recruit and manage principal engineers and go deep technically 
  • History of delivering business impact with multiple teams, including managing managers and/or tech leads
  • Collaborative and solution-oriented partner to business and product leaders 
  • Talented problem solver across technical, organizational, process, and interpersonal domains

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.

Pay Range

$246,000$394,000 USD
