We are seeking a talented and experienced PCB Power Architect to join our dynamic Systems team. As a Power Architect, you will play a crucial role in defining solutions that walk the line between optimal performance and power efficiency of our PCBs and multi-PCB systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including the packaging team, mechanical/thermal, SI team, IP block validation teams, and ODMs to drive power efforts.

This role is hybrid, based out Toronto, ON.


Responsibilities:

  • Power Architecture: Define the power tree, select technologies and oversee the whole system used to power demanding ASICs and supporting circuitry.
  • Power Analysis and Design: Contribute to package and system design. Conduct pre-layout PDN design as well as post-layout tuning and BOM optimization.
  • Performance Evaluation: Collaborate with other stakeholder design teams to ensure the end system meets the needs of the product. 
  • Power Technology Pathfinding: Delve into upcoming technology, build prototypes, exercise evaluation boards and find new solutions for our power challenges.
  • Validation Support: Provide guidance and support to the validation team to ensure accurate measurement and analysis of power-related metrics.
  • Debugging and Troubleshooting: Investigate and debug power-related issues discovered during board bring-up and post-silicon validation and work with relevant teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document design methodologies, findings, and recommendations in clear and concise reports for internal use and customer communication.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, validation, software, and system engineering, to align power optimization efforts with overall product goals.


Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in system level power design and optimization for high power semiconductor products.
  • Strong understanding of power measurement techniques, methodologies, and tools.
  • Experience with end to end power design tools such as Simplis, PSim, SiWave, or similar as well as an enterprise eCAD tool.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Prior experience in silicon bring-up, validation, or characterization is a plus.
  • Familiarity with multiphase power designs balancing cost, high peak power and efficiency is desirable.
