About The Position | Major goals and objectives and location requirements:

Dotdash Meredith is seeking an experienced Director, Event Marketing to lead the strategic vision, planning, and execution of high-profile, revenue-driving consumer events and brand engagement for Southern Living. This leadership role is part of the Lifestyle Marketing Group and will also provide strategic support across other flagship brands including Real Simple and Better Homes & Gardens.

This position requires a strategic, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong track record of delivering seamless, memorable experiences.

This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

About The Team | The Team and/or Brand:

The Event Marketing team drives the success of our events, managing everything from concept to execution and post-event analysis. They lead cross-functional collaboration, working closely with sales and marketing to craft compelling messaging and memorable experiences that align with company goals, boost engagement, and deliver measurable results.

About The Positions Contributions - Weight % - Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results:

35%

  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of Southern Living’s marquee events, from venue selection and budgeting to vendor negotiations and onsite management.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for all event talent, overseeing communications, contracts, and logistics.

30%

  • Identify, source, and manage external partners and vendors (e.g., catering, A/V, production, merchandise).
  • Develop contingency plans to handle onsite emergencies and last-minute changes smoothly.

25%

  • Provide event marketing support across Real Simple, Better Homes & Gardens, and other lifestyle brands as needed.

10%

  • Travel and onsite presence required for major events to ensure flawless execution.

The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of event marketing experience, ideally with large-scale consumer events.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities with a proven capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Calm under pressure with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives. In addition, Dotdash Meredith provides to employees (and their eligible family members) a variety of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage, unlimited paid time off (PTO), adoption or surrogate assistance, donation matching, tuition reimbursement, basic life insurance, basic accidental death & dismemberment, supplemental life insurance, supplemental accident insurance, commuter benefits, short term and long term disability, health savings and flexible spending accounts, family care benefits, a generous 401K savings plan with a company match program, 10-12 paid holidays annually, and generous paid parental leave (birthing and non-birthing parents), all of which may vary depending on the specific nature of your employment with Dotdash Meredith and your work location.
