Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled design technologist to join the IBM.com team who has a passion for design, technology, and problem-solving. You will play a critical role in shaping the future of IBM.com's digital experiences by working closely with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative solutions that simultaneously meet user needs and business goals.

- Collaborate with designers, developers, strategists, and product managers to understand user needs and technical business requirements.

- Work with a variety of design technology stacks, learn technologies, and deliver high quality design solutions through experimentation and rapid iteration.

- Drive concept development by building working prototypes to explore new features, content, and digital experiences, and refining user experience solutions that others haven't thought of to ensure they meet user needs.

- Conduct user research to inform design decisions, and drive creation of user personas, journey maps, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs.

- Develop custom tools and build automations to help improve design and business processes for maximum impact.

- Act as a technical bridge between design and development teams by maintaining thoughtful design visions through production-ready code.

- Work closely with design and development team to implement IBM Carbon Design System in all solutions, including technical delivery of components to dev team for build.

- Contribute to the on-going development of design standards, guidelines, and reusable components.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

You must bring a strong technical background, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to think strategically and holistically. If you have a passion for technology, user experience, and driving innovative solutions, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

- Proven experience as a design technologist, engineer, or UX designer with a strong portfolio showcasing your design work.

- Strong understanding of usability principles, information architecture, and human-centered design.

- Experience working with design and prototyping tools, such as Figma and Axure.

- Strong understanding of building for modern web applications using Javascript frameworks, tools, and workflows, as well as HTML, CSS, responsive design, and source control (Git).

- Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices.

- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship management skills.

- Experience working with design systems and the learning agility to quickly gain mastery over the IBM Design system, Carbon design system as well as IBM Branding guidelines and UI best practices.

For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
