About Salary Finance

Salary Finance is one of the UK’s fastest growing free employee benefits.

Who we are:

Salary Finance has grown from an idea in 2015 to a breakthrough FinTech platform and movement today. We support a community of 4M employees across 575 clients (inc 20% of the FTSE 100) in the UK and US, and provide a suite of financial employee benefits, to help employees improve their financial health and happiness. Our platform provides salary-linked savings, loans, pay advances, insurance and financial education. We are a company with 200 brilliant and passionate colleagues in 3 countries and to have the backing of great investors (Blenheim Chalcot, Legal & General, Experian, Goldman Sachs, Royal London) with £100M in equity and £500M in debt funding raised to-date.

Our social mission is deeply intertwined with our expertise in financial technology. All of the benefits we offer—simple savings, early access to earned pay, affordable loans, and insurance—are fully accessible via our custom-built digital platform. This allows us to deliver the simplest, quickest, and most secure customer journeys possible.

We have received 70+ recognitions for our products and societal contributions. Among them, we are particularly proud to have been recognised as ‘Responsible Business of the Year’ by The Prince’s Responsible Business Network (BITC), in addition to being awarded ‘Best Financial Wellbeing Provider’, ‘Ethical Financial Services Provider of the Year’ and ‘Consumer Champion of the Year’ in 2020 alone.

The role

We’re looking for talented and experienced Software Developers to join our Development Team. You’ll use your technical excellence and a collaborative approach to solve problems for our clients and staff. The development team is at the very heart of Salary Finance’s mission, which means you’ll be working on making us more efficient and effective, making our lives, and the lives of our clients better.

We deal with people’s money at Salary Finance, and we take that responsibility seriously. You’ll need an eye for detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a deep desire to produce quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You’ll work across Salary Finance’s products and services, working closely with colleagues in India, the UK and South Africa, across the development and product teams and beyond. This is a product engineering role rather than a pure programming role - you’ll be involved across the whole of the product life cycle, from inception to operation.
  • We work in an agile and fast-moving environment, and this means every day is different at Salary Finance. From supporting colleagues in our Operations teams to get the right outcomes for our customers, to developing features for our internal management tools, to working on financial ledgers, this is a hugely varied role.
  • Our tech stack is mostly a containerised REST-based microservice architecture with services written in C#, with MySQL databases. We have some services which use VB.NET, SQL Server, R and Python. Everything runs in AWS. Our front-end’s use Vue.js.

About you

The ideal candidate will have a track-record in delivering results in a fast-moving business and hence be comfortable with change and uncertainty. Excellent stakeholder management experience is essential to being successful in this role.

Required:

  • 5 years of commercial full-stack C# software development experience, working on RESTful services, using relational databases. We use MySQL and SQL Server, but if you’ve only ever worked with Postgres, that’s not a problem at all.
  • Solid experience with VB.NET. No problem if you’re a bit rusty.
  • A good understanding and experience with modern software development practices and patterns, including AWS, agile methodologies, unit and integration testing (including test-driven development), integration with APIs, containers, and CI/CD.
  • Comfortable with solving problems, designing solutions, coding, reviewing, testing, and debugging.
  • Excellent team player, demonstrating a collaborative approach to work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your communication style effectively to any audience, junior or senior, technical or non-technical.
  • Comfortable dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fearless, and able to make the impossible possible.
  • Responsible, and committed to building a business that delivers a meaningful difference to society.
  • Dedicated to an exciting journey, through the highs and lows.
  • Empathetic and truly care about every colleague and customer.
  • United, understanding that we achieve more when we work as a team.
  • Humble, and take feedback as a way to continuously improve.

Preferred:

  • Ideal if you have up-to-date experience with Vue.js. If you’ve only ever worked with Angular or React, or older versions of Vue.js, that’s fine.

What we can offer you

  • Be part of the World’s Leading Digital Venture Builder
  • Have the opportunity to be a part of and learn from the incredible diverse talent in BC
  • Be exposed to the right mix of challenges, within a culture that promotes continuous learning and development and opportunity to work with Gen AI
  • A fun and open, if a little cricket obsessed, atmosphere – we own the Rajasthan Royals IPL team!
  • 24 days of annual leave, 6 floater leave and 4 public holiday days, maternity and paternity leaves.
  • Private medical for you and your immediate family.
