Accounting Manager/ Senior Controller

Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the accounting operations of the company. This position involves working with the financial team as well as outsourced resources to ensure accurate and timely financial month end, implementing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures, and collaborating with other departments to support strategic financial initiatives. The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial data and providing insights to support decision-making at both operational and executive levels.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage Month End Close and Day to Day Accounting Process and Procedures

  • Oversee and run the month close reconciliation process – cash, credit cards, balance sheet accounts and monthly accruals as needed. Review flux analysis for P&L to ensure all transactions are classified correctly. Build upon month end close checklist as business needs evolve and change. 
  •  Month end preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  •  Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  •  Provide accurate and timely financial reports to management, stakeholders, and external parties as required.
  • Review and approve out of pocket reimbursements and manage corporate credit card platform.
  • Review and approve Vendor invoices through Bill.com platform.

2. Management/Oversight of International Subsidiary

  •  Work with International Bookkeepers to manage day to day accounting processes for German subsidiary.
  • Review financial statements prepared by local German bookkeepers for quarterly financial consolidation into ERP.

3. Cash Management:

  • Manage cash flow by monitoring bank balances, overseeing cash disbursements and collections, and optimizing liquidity.
  • Develop and implement cash management policies and procedures to minimize risk and maximize returns.

5. Internal Controls:

  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.


6. Audit and Compliance:

  • Coordinate and oversee external audits, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findings.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and standards, and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.


7. ERP System Management:

  •  Oversee the ongoing day to day operations, maintenance, and optimization of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system – AccountingSeed.
  •  Collaborate with outsourced IT/software firms and other stakeholders to enhance system functionality and efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in accounting or financial management roles, with at least 8 years of experience in a Controller or Accounting Manager capacity. 
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (GAAP, IFRS, etc.).
  • Proficiency in financial systems: Salesforce, AccountingSeed, Bill.com and Excel.
  • High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
  • Ability to self-manage on a day-to-day basis and work with offshore resources for asynchronous collaboration and communication.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

We are open to remote candidates (authorized to work in the United States) or candidates local to our headquarters in Malden, MA.
