The Position

Genentech, Inc. seeks a Senior Network Engineer in its South San Francisco, California location.

Duties: Within global healthcare company, provide technical leadership/mentorship to stakeholders and to colleagues on networking topics. Architect (as a solution architect), design, build, test and implement (first-time deployments) integrated, resilient and reliable network solutions. Evaluate promising networking solutions/technologies and their feasibility in meeting Roche's business needs. Provide technical leadership within project teams, mentor/lead individuals in a workgroup, and provide guidance to less experienced personnel. Ensure network designs and solutions align and adhere to the organization's Enterprise Architecture policies, standards, and direction. Provide technical recommendations and contribute to "position papers", "white papers" and "best practices" for infrastructure solutions and the use cases for their respective solution areas. Stay aware of operational challenges and opportunities; work with support team staff to provide internal escalation support as needed. Ensure solutions and components implemented comply with Quality/Regulatory standards, as applicable. Produce and maintain sufficient documentation for the designs, design patterns, and related component standards created or maintained.

Education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Informatics Administration, Computer Science, Data Network Administration, Engineering or related field and three (3) years of experience as Network Administrator, System Administrator, Network Engineer, Network Architect or related position. Alternatively, employer will accept five (5) years of experience in the stated positions without a degree.

Special Requirements: Must have 3 years of experience with each of the following:

• Global IT Infrastructure;
• Stakeholder management;
• Development of Technical Operation Procedures;
• Development of Engineering Standards;
• Experience in Proof of Concept & proto-typing.

Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of California $201,264.00 to $268,968.00 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
