What’s KB Burnell’s favorite thing about Route? The parties. “Kidding! Kind of,” she clarified. It wasn’t the parties themselves, but the idea behind them: Recognition. In a fast-paced startup environment, Route’s management never forgets to make space to be proud of their people. That drive to celebrate extends even further, into DEI initiatives — like Route’s annual “Celebrating Connections” event led by the Women’s ERG. This event aims to empower women in tech and e-commerce and bring the whole company together, regardless of if employees are in the office or remote.

Giving designers the space to design

SVP of Design Nick Allen knows that his team does great work — his job is just to clear the path. “I try to absorb and streamline processes as much as possible,” said Allen, “so that the team can do what they do best: design delightful and useful user experiences for our customers and merchant partners.” Everyone has a voice and can throw themselves into the project that interests them most. As the company moves forward, Allen plans to connect mentors and mentees to provide growth opportunities for everyone — knowing that when the individual gets stronger, so does the whole company.
