YELP AND START-UP, TENTIKO ANNOUNCE ‘YELP SINGLES YOU OUT’
DENVER, CO. – Two unique businesses have joined forces to bring people together to experience, well, experiences together. Yelp, who describes their mission as connecting people with great local businesses has done just that with Tentiko, a Denver-based startup whose mission is to provide local, authentic experiences and uniquely Denver things to do. Together, they have created “Yelp Singles You Out.” Experiences, both for singles and couples, range from exploring neighborhoods to learning about Denver’s seedier history to making beer koozies. Attendees will receive a 15% discount code on the already very reasonable experience prices.
What is the project about?:
Yelp Singles You Out is Yelp Denver’s new project that lines up fun, discounted activities, specifically designed to help people explore their city while interacting with businesses and other community members. From June 15-29, people can attend a variety of events that offer experiences in which people can learn something new, explore the city of Denver with unique individuals and meet great people.
Who is it for?
Although it’s always nice to try to bring two people together for whatever may come of things, these events are not limited to singles. Frances Grinsfelder, of Yelp says, “We encourage couples to attend as these experiences are also a great way to get to know someone better or liven up a relationship. If you are a single in the city and looking to meet new people, we ask that you consider bringing a single friend (if bringing a guest or guests) to mix it up!” The events are exclusive to Yelpers, but aren't designed to accommodate groups any larger than 20 people. A purchase is required in advance of attendance.
Yelp approached Tentiko after discovering Tentiko’s experience-based events that showcase uniquely Denver experiences. “Yelp Denver was fortunate enough to team up with such a fascinating concept and business,” says Frances Grinsfelder of Yelp. Co-Founded by Jim Chesebro and Cyd Crouse, Tentiko was born out of the belief that people are looking for authentic, local experiences. “We believe that social shifts and economic factors will bring a rise in the experience economy. Today people are seeking real world interaction. Many of us want to buy less ‘stuff’” explains Chesebro.
Each Tentiko experience is created and delivered by real, passionate people. “Our goal is that our guests will fall in love with Denver by exploring it in new ways,” says Crouse. “They will learn more about something they care about or explore a new passion. They will meet amazing, passionate hosts and share the experience with old friends and meet new ones.”
As for the name “Tentiko”? The short answer is that it means "authentic." The long answer can be found on their blog, http://blog.tentiko.com/the-story-behind-our-name/.
