Using R to Predict an NBA Team's Probability of Making the Playoffs

On January 21st -- the night of this meetup -- the Denver Nuggets will have played 40 games. At this point in the season, most people who follow the Nuggets want to know if they are likely to make the playoffs or if it's time to focus on the draft and next season. In this talk, I will describe using R to model the Nuggets' playoff probability at any point in the season. The emphasis will be on describing the data sources, R tools to obtain the data and build the model, and a simple shiny app.
