Colorado’s utilities commissioners aren’t hanging up Uber Denver and its limo-ordering app for smartphones.
The commissioners from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, in a hearing Tuesday afternoon, declined to adopt recommended rule changes that Uber worried would hamstring the way it operates.
San Francisco-based Uber Technologies Inc. started its limo-ordering service in the Denver-Boulder area last summer.
Tuesday's hearing didn't finalize rules. But after PUC commissioners gave guidance, Uber feels comfortable about its plans to invest in expanding on the Front Range and beyond, said Will McCollum, general manager of Uber Denver.
“We’re good to go, and Uber’s going to be in Colorado for quite some time,” he said. “They’ve decided that the consumer needs to be the one who chooses, not taxi companies.”
