[ibimage==21790==Original==none==self==ibimage_align-center]Startup Weekend is making its big return back to Boulder – and things have changed since the event was last here in 2007. Since then, Startup Weekend has held over 1,000 events around the world and over 8,000 startups have been created as a result.
Taking place from April 26-28 at the TechStars building, Startup Weekend promises to be the craziest, yet most valuable, 54 hours you’ve ever spent working on your idea. Whether you are looking to put your specific skillset to work or just need to assemble a rockin’ team, you will have the chance to do it at Startup Weekend.
The schedule includes public feedback from participants, speeches from Brad Feld of Foundry Group and David Cohen of TechStars and private sessions with prominent startup mentors and coaches. On Friday, anyone is welcome to pitch and then teams will form around the ideas with the most votes. Then it is a unbridled race to final presentations and awards on Sunday evening!
The prizes given at the end of the weekend include perks from public polling platform PickFu for every participant and, for the winners, 1-month mobile memberships from Scrib and a law services package from Venture Law Advisers, LLC.
But besides the prizes and the companies that come out of Startup Weekend, it really is the people that have held the events together since 2007. Participants not only work and connect with other local entrepreneurs – but also join a community of over 100,000 alumni worldwide.
“It’s important to remember that it’s not just about the idea – it’s about the team,” Startup Weekend Boulder Organizer Chris Menard said. (This year’s event at Boulder was also organized by Matt Reisman of H2Lo, Nick Wyman of Foundry Group, Jessica Goulding of Higher Altitude Marketing and Ben Buie of HappyFreebie.com.)
