BlogMutt's motto is "we work like a dog to fill up your blog." Their service provides blog posts for small-business' websites, written by individuals who make up a massive team of writers that BlogMutt approves.
Who exactly are your customers?
They're all small businesses, typically with less than 25 employees. We do business all over the workd - 12% of our customer base is now overseas. We're on 6 continents - I guess penguins don't really need posts.
These business owners are smart - smart enough to know that you can't be good at everything, and to hire out the things that are a time suck for them. That's really where our value is - we take care of an important task that is massively time-consuming for most people. WHen they use our services, they're guaranteed consistent, quality blog posts every week.
What challenges have you faced with your company or business model?
Sometimes people feel guilty about hiring a blogging service instead of writing their own posts. But they shouldn't. People don't feel shame in hiring an accountant to handle their finances. It should be the same with a blogging service.
Otherwise, overall things have gone incredibly smoothly.
Tell us about some of your successes.
Honestly the best thing about this business came as a complete surprise. It wasn't about revenue or making clients happy, but actually it's the writers who we hear from every few weeks who thank us for giving them the opportunity to get paid to write. A lot of them are stay-at-home-moms or people just looking for part-time/side work, and here they're writing professionally, making money, and they really appreciate it.

How would you describe your company culture?
What advice would you have for a new founder?
Be prepared to work hard, for long hours. You should like whatever you're doing - you're going to be spending a lot if not all of your waking moments on it. You have to like what you do to be successful.
