Product Management for Startups - Rocky Mountain Product Camp

Product Management: The Startup Lifeline was one of the sessions I most enjoyed during Denver Startup Week. There was a short presentation, but most of the session consisted of a lively discussion between the panelists & the audience, which was a sold-out crowd.

[ibimage==23781==Original==none==self==ibimage_align-left]Product management has always been an absolutely critical component of a startup’s success. In an era where success will be driven by design, rather than features, the need for strong product managers within an organization has never been more clear.

More people than ever are learning about the impact of a disciplined approach to product development, thanks to the rising popularity of classes, books & events focused on the methodologies detailed in books such as The Lean Startup & Running Lean.

By the end of the session at Denver Startup Week, there was a real energy in the room -- a desire to learn more, and to immediately put that knowledge into practice. Of course, there's the Startup Lessons Learned blog by The Lean Startup author, Eric Ries & a host of other resources available online. But nothing quite replaces the chemistry of a room filled with product professionals and entrepreneurs who are all excited about building something together.

But the next Denver Startup Week is a year away...so where do you go to talk product in the meantime?

One option you'll want to check out is the Rocky Mountain Product Camp, which was announced during Startup Week. It will be held at Metro State University in Denver from 8:30 - 3:30 on Saturday, November 16. Sign up during the early registration period (until November 3rd) and tickets are only $5 each.

A variety of formats ensure this is a Saturday well spent.

  • Panels and speakers lead classroom-style sessions covering what you need to know to stay competitive
  • Round table discussions offer everyone the chance to present an opinion and strengthen understanding with a variety of viewpoints
  • Generous networking time before, during, and after the sessions to pick up and continue the conversation
