Global Weather Corporation, the Boulder-based real-time weather forecasting company, announced a $1 million raise today.
The fresh round of cash will help Global Weather to improve its energy renewables forecasting and to bring to tool to market for near-term precipitation and road weather conditions, CEO Mark Flolid said.
Through its white label product and its API, Global Weather gives weather-sensitive businesses (like those in the transportation, agriculture or construction industries) the most accurate weather forecast around, according to ForecastWatch. For example, Global Weather is working on wind and solar energy forecasting for clients like utility holding company Xcel Energy.
Today Global Weather also announced a partnership with Fairfax, Virginia-based traffic video aggregator TrafficLand. Together with TrafficLand (which provides videos for the Department of Transportation), Global Weather will market a service for combining hyper-local forecasts of road and weather conditions with real-time local traffic camera video.
TrafficLand is just one of the many clients utilizing Global Weather’s forecasting capabilities; in fact, the company is adding a new client every week, Flolid said. To keep up with growth on the client side, Global Weather is looking to beef up its team with channel sales managers and system engineers this year.
“Our team is excited to be advancing the precision and accuracy of the global weather forecast and enabling the explosive growth wealth sensitive applications for media, energy, transportation, agriculture and construction,” Flolid said.
