Denver’s mobile app development options got a boost this week when Double Encore, a local mobile products company, announced its merger with mobile development company Xcellent Creations. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Together, the companies will work under the Double Encore name in a new office that is to overlook Denver’s historic 16th Street Mall. Their 42 employees will provide services covering mobile user experience, human interface design, native iOS, Android, and mobile web development.
For Ben Reubenstein, Xcellent Creation’s CEO, who has been appointed to CEO of Double Encore, the growth of his business is synonymous with Denver.
“[Double Encore founder and chairman Dan Burcaw] and I met at the first iOSDevCamp event in Denver back in 2008. As iOS and Android adoption grew worldwide, so too did the Denver community and our company,” he says. Between community events and local colleges, Reubenstein sees a wealth of current and potential employees here. “Overall Denver has the right combination of talent to make our business thrive.”
Unlike many tech cities, Denver offers an environment whose uniqueness is not lost on Burcaw.
“Denver is a wonderful place to live. We have great weather the majority of the time, we have the Rocky Mountains just up the road, and we have incredible food and nightlife,” Burcaw says. “There's a lot to love and it turns out, it's not a very difficult sell to most of the people we want to hire.”
Amid the natural beauty surrounding Denver, a new team of mobile experts is poised and ready to turn ideas into apps for some of the biggest brands out there. Burcaw brings with him Apple veterans, creative designers and software engineers, while Reubenstein’s team won Best Software Solution at the 2012 Denver Business Technology Exposition. They set out to form a mobile powerhouse together and it looks like that’s just what they’ve done.
