Each week, Built In Denver visits three tech startups across Colorado's front range. We interview founders, and highlight how these innovative companies got started, where they're going and what makes them unique.

For week #9 of our Startup Tour, we visited SendGrid, Birdbox, and CaptainU

With an offices in both Boulder and Denver, SendGrid is often seen as one of the tech scene's heavy-hitters. We spoke with CEO Jim Franklin, who offered the insight of a seasoned serial entrepreneur. Hear about SendGrid's expansion to Denver, how the company got started, and why Jim thinks of it as "a modern American success story." Read our conversation with Jim SendGrid here

A less than a year out of TechStars, Birdbox has a new office (shared with PivotDesk in Boulder) and a new product. Look for a public launch of their photo-sharing tool later this year. We sat down with Co-Founder and CEO Ben Nunez to talk about what Birdbox is up to, and picked his brain about his experiences as a founder and serial entrepreneur both with this current venture and some of his past experiences. Pushing for people to constantly re-evaluate how they're doing things and whether or not it's working, his roots as a coach and athlete come through in his business life. Find out What CaptainU is all about, and get insights into Avi's unique take on how to start a company. Read our interview with Avi here
