The Big Bang

About six weeks ago I was talking to a friend about my life now that I sold my business.  He mentioned a few ideas he had and then he mentioned a project in its infancy.  I immediately gravitated towards the project; a novel method of branding within text messages.

I like businesses with a clear path to revenue and profit.  I also like businesses that have limited capital needs; I like businesses that can fund themselves once product development is fully funded and gross margin exceeds operating expenses.  This sounds obvious, but think of all the companies that have operating expenses that accelerate faster than gross profits (think twitter, facebook, etc.).

I had coffee with the company’s dynamic leader, learned more about the business and then I signed on to help launch the company.  We are now merely weeks away from issuing the first round of private equity.

My involvement began within my corporate development acumen; by developing a financial model that generates the company’s financial projections.  A great deal of thought went into the model including the relationship between brands and consumers, variables of consumer adoption, volume / revenue relationship, operating expense / profit relationship and the functioning of operating entity.  My involvement continues to increase.

I look forward to posting more as the company develops from its current nascent stage through its full capitalization.
