Zoox has embarked on a highly ambitious journey to develop an autonomous mobility solution built from the ground up. Within the Software Systems organization, the Robot Software Infrastructure team is a key integration team that delivers software bridging many hardware, platform software, and AI teams throughout Zoox.
The team is responsible for developing tools and processes that enable seamless integrations of many heterogeneous subsystems such as firmware, OS, software, build systems and backend, and manufacturing and operations. This includes a variety of on-vehicle and near-vehicle software components such as embedded operating systems (BSP, OS, Drivers, Bringup, Security, & Safety), near-vehicle infrastructure supporting manufacturing and operations, fleet-wide vehicle software tools and processes, and software systems domain-specific tools for developers and operations.
We are looking for a senior manager to lead these efforts bringing the technical skills and vision, and work cross-functionally with many organizations at Zoox including key teams such as Core Software, Core Firmware, hardware teams, safety-focused teams, IT, ML infrastructure, software infrastructure, and developer experience.
Responsibilities
- You will lead teams of engineers on areas such as OS optimization, AV SW configuration, and packaging, Fleet SW deploy tools and processes, SW configuration tools, and general tools for data analysis.
- You will set the technical direction for your team partnering with all stakeholders to identify gaps and areas of improvement on software, tools, and processes, with a mindset towards scale.
- You will be responsible for architecting components, tools, and processes defining roadmaps, and executing implementation towards such plans.
- You will grow the organization by both hiring and onboarding new members as well as by growing the individual team members through learning and mentoring

- Proficiency with a variety of programming languages, including those that have manual memory management (e.g., C or C++) and interpreted languages (e.g., python)
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including concise writing on technical topics
- Experience supporting production services and systems, including on-call rotations and playbooks
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent practical experience
Bonus Qualifications
