Position Description:
As a member of the GNS-SOE team at Intelsat, the selected candidate will be engaged in supporting and overseeing the Intelsat Ground Network System (GNS), a sophisticated network that currently manages over 70 satellites globally. The primary focus of this role will involve working with innovative tools designed for our monitoring system, which plays a crucial part in identifying and reporting critical and major alarms or events. This is essential for providing reliable support to our on-call personnel, ensuring effective and uninterrupted satellite operations. This position offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of technological advancements in satellite network management.
Job Responsibilities:
- GNS Training: Receive comprehensive training in the Intelsat Ground Network System (GNS), including an overview of its components, functionalities, and operational protocols.
- Participation in Daily Meetings: Actively engage in daily meetings focusing on current GNS issues observed in operations, providing a real-time understanding of challenges and solutions.
- Development of New Tools: Contribute to the development and enhancement of new tools for the GNS monitoring system, gaining experience in innovative technology solutions.
- Exposure to Advanced Technologies: Gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies used in satellite communication and network monitoring.
- Contribution to Critical Operations: Play a role in supporting critical operations that ensure the reliability and effectiveness of the GNS, gaining a sense of contribution to a larger mission.
12 Week Schedule:
- Week 1-3: Introductory GNS Training, covering basic tools, technologies, and operational protocols...
- Week 4-6: Hands-on practice with small tasks and initiation of a guided project focused on the GNS system.
- Week 7-10: Advanced project development with increased independence and additional training in specialized areas.
- Week 10-12: Finalization and presentation of the project, along with comprehensive feedback and future direction discussions
Minimum Requirements:
Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
- Part-time or full-time students who have completed 24+ credit hours (rising sophomores/juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university; Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
- May 2024 graduate
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
- Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite
- 3.0 GPA or above preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic Python Knowledge: Fundamental understanding of Python, indicating a willingness to develop and improve programming skills.
- Introductory Experience with MongoDB: Familiarity with MongoDB or a keen interest in learning database management.
- Exposuse to Container Technology: Some awareness or interest in containerization concepts, such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Interest in Data Visualization Tools: Curiosity or basic knowledge of data visualization tools like Grafana is a plus.
- Pursuing a Relevant Degree: Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering.
