Description and Requirements
This is an integral leadership role within MetLife's Corporate Systems Technology organization supporting HR Technology and the Employee Experience organization which touches every employee of MetLife. This is an exciting time to join the Corporate Systems Technology organization as we collaborate with business leaders and continue to transform MetLife's Employees Experience.
The Employee Experience team consists of several technology focused teams. The selected candidate will lead the Data Integration team. This team is responsible for several hundred internal and external interfaces (largely HR applications) and underlying data platforms.
The Role:
In this role, the selected candidate will lead the product teams delivering Data and API/microservice based solutions. Large application support is for HR Applications and will require HR data expertise to build a data lake for HR. The candidate will leverage their experience and knowledge of enterprise data and integration technologies, patterns, cloud architectures, software engineering, cyber security and organizational leadership.
The selected candidate will work hand in hand with our technology teams to build a strategy for a common data lake for employee HR data. The candidate will provide direction on how to build integrations in a secure and consistent manner. Beyond integrations, the strategy should include how to leverage data from employee experience platforms and HRIS applications for better insights and decision making. The methodology should be scalable beyond HR data needs.
The candidate will work closely with senior leaders, business and internal technology partners, establishing a portfolio and solution roadmap for the products and ensuring successful delivery through an agile delivery model. In addition, this people leadership role will be responsible building effective teams, driving engagement and developing our talent. Ideal candidate should be visionary in terms of building an enterprise level data architecture for future, while delivering operational excellence in all existing data related projects. This is a key role for the organization in order to enhance secure HR data, enhance integration capabilities and further build business intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand Oracle HR structures, data needs and structure Azure data lake architecture, with the ability to meet the needs of HR analytics and integration teams.
- Full people management responsibility for direct product team including hiring, promotions, performance, career, training & development and engagement.
- Partners and influences the business with emerging technology trends and capabilities that align to the Product portfolio.
- Drive direction for HR data architecture in data lake and provide direction to data transformation needed for Business intelligence purposes.
- Deep understanding of the business' way of working to solve challenges by leveraging technology.
- Lead teams in the development and maintenance of an E2E IT solution that supports a portfolio of products primarily in HR, including the creation and implementation of technology roadmap and management of technical debt.
- Partners with Audit, Application Security and Architecture to plan through potential risks associated with product and/or processes.
- Responsible for translating platform vision into work generated by multiple Agile teams in order to ensure the platform meets the defined goals and vision.
- Leads and organizes demos of up-and-coming technologies that can deliver values to the business.
- Lead product software delivery through continuous focus on software development and maintenance metrics and KPIs.
- Manage the team budget including maintenance, infrastructure and annual discretionary portfolio of projects with product owners. Also responsible for IT Vendor relationships and contracts.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
- Undergraduate degree required, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of Software Architecture and/or Engineering experience delivering complex enterprise solutions in web, mobile, integration and/or data domains.
- Strong working knowledge of Application and Data Architecture.
- Strong understanding of HR data governance, HR data risk in global setting including knowledge of international data privacy laws (GDPR).
- Experience in People (Workforce) Analytics, HR Data expertise, and ability to drive insights from data is critical.
- Experience with large scale HR data from several different ERP systems.
- Expertise in Azzure Data Lake environment is required.
- Working knowledge of Oracle HCM is required.
- Working knowledge of enterprise integration technologies and patterns such as APIS, SOA, Service Bus, Publish/Subscribe, Event based architectures and/or SFTP/FTPS.
- Experience designing and engineering data solutions, including big data, data warehousing, transactional processing, and data analytics.
- Experience delivering solutions using Microservice based architecture, leveraging docker containers and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
Preferred Experience and Technical Skills:
- Experience working in and/or certification in SAFE Agile model.
- Azure cloud experience and/or certification(s).
- Experience delivering complex IT solutions in a large, matrixed corporate environment.
- 10-15 years of experience within a HR Data domain.
- Accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment.
The wage range for applicants for this position is $154,700 to $206,300. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation.
