- 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering design in a fast-paced development environment
- 3+ years of experience generating meaningful engineering analysis and documentation for validating designs
- Ability to simplify complicated engineering challenges into piecemeal tasks, and develop a plan to execute to a schedule
- Experience using parametric design software to create complex mechanical assemblies (Solidworks, Inventor, Pro/E, etc)
- Experience performing structural and failure analysis for frames and parts using hand calculations and CAE (RISA, Ansys, CAD FEA, etc)
- Ability to effectively manage and own projects from inception to completion
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent technical and operational knowledge of mechanical systems within manufacturing environments
- Ability to analyze and specify automation components (actuators, reducers, etc)
- Ability to design basic electrical and control systems (industrial controls, electrical schematics, etc)
- Experience in manufacturing (process development, tooling, component assembly, welding, machining, etc)
- Ability to create, read and interpret complex assembly and part drawings, bills of materials, assembly procedures, and part drawings per ASME Y14.5 standards (GD&T)
- Interface effectively with internal and external customers to ensure project success
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience in presenting design reviews and being able to foster an open forum for discussion
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to a changing scope of work
- Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
- Ability to quickly understand which engineering analysis is crucial to a design's success, and which is not
Additional Requirements
- Repetitive movement, bending or twisting, using tools typical in a shop environment (Calipers, micrometers, wrenches, etc.) or controls, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting, and exposure to typical shop chemicals (coolant, solvents, cleaners) are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
