Work Arrangement
Hybrid - This role requires the employee to be onsite a minimum of three days per week. The work location will be Warren, Michigan.
The Role
This position will be responsible for leading, developing and directing a high performance Industrial Engineering team for Global Propulsion Systems (GPS) in Manufacturing Engineering (ME). The focus of the role will be to manage and lead all facets of Labor Development, Labor Measurement and Labor Forecasting focused on Hours per Unit and Manufacturing Cost per Unit that feed the Long-Term Plan (LTP)and ensure alignment with the manufacturing cost as a percentage of net sales initiative.
Your goal will be to drive GPS to achieve the most efficient processes that help make GPS Manufacturing Systems a competitive advantage for every new program launch. There will be a focus on the Plan for Every Part process, and the Line Balance process to achieve the lowest enterprise cost as measured by the Benchmark Calculator (BMC). The leader in this role will facilitate and work with all GPS ME regarding trade-offs (typically automation v. manual labor) utilizing the Manufacturing Engineering Cost per Unit model. In addition, this role will be responsible for facilitating innovative and ergonomic solutions. Encourage and support Plant Productivity Continuous Improvement Initiatives. Lead as needed Throughput improvement activities for all launches. Continuously Recruit, Hire and Retain top Industrial Engineering Talent.
Simulation is a key capability for predicting and improving process performance. The IE EGM is responsible to build capability in the team, establish standardized work in support of program planning and broaden the portfolio of simulations internally and through partnership with Tech Center India (TCI).
What You Will Do (Job Responsibilities)
- Manage Industrial Engineering as a key enabler for HPU reduction and safe workplace
- Application and development of new technology for all Industrial Engineering and related solutions.
- Develop competitive, efficient manufacturing systems working with ME Process and the Manufacturing sites for all GPS developed production lines
- Support new programs from concept through SORP + 6 months and direct support of execution activities
- Procurement through delivery of Racks, Internal Dunnage, Lift Assists, Bridge and Rail and other as needed. Also managing supplier contracts and relationships
- Work with finance to insure all new GPS programs are aligned from and HPU standpoint with the 7% manufacturing cost as a percent of net sales initiative.
- Standardization and Growth of the Simulation Team
- Leverage data to challenge the status quo
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 2+ years of people leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations with a specialized focus on industrial engineering principles
- At least 5 years of professional IE experience that includes exposure to:
- Utilizing manufacturing operations efficiency measurement tools
- Line Balancing, and Plant Manufacturing Cost per Unit
- Layout Development
- Through-put Improvement
- Safety & Ergonomics to all aspects of process development
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
