The Opportunity:
MetLife Data & Analytics (DnA) organization is the team of expert analysts and technologists responsible for building big data platforms and data services with innovative technologies to enable MetLife businesses to generate insights and value for their customers. The team is the center of excellence in data architecture, analysis, and engineering at MetLife. It plays a crucial role in data enablement through multiple data stores, supporting analytical use cases to derive predictive, prescriptive, and descriptive insights and AI-based automation.
The Director - Agile Coach and Portfolio Manager will play a pivotal role in our Data & Analytics organization, training and guiding the overall DnA practice in the SAFe practices. This role is instrumental in increasing our Agile maturity and enhancing our teams' efficiency. Our data and analytics teams are at the forefront of providing solutions for various insurance business functions. You will collaborate with partners from business, operations, technology, and risk management functions to manage and drive scalable and responsible solutions.
How You'll Help Us Build A Confident Future:

  • As a Director - Agile Coach and Portfolio Manager, you will enable teams through Agile coaching and mentoring. Your role will be to promote an Agile mindset to focus on innovation and learning.
  • Contribute thought leadership to the Agile community and MetLife LACEs and the community of practice. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to influence leaders and executives on the opportunities and benefits of applying Agile principles across the entire DnA organization to achieve business agility.
  • As a Director - Agile Coach and Portfolio Manager, will be involved in building and maintaining the Guiding Coalition and transformation backlog. You will apply industry trends based on experiential learning to fit the context of portfolio challenges. Moreover, you will demonstrate thought leadership by sharing perspectives, creating content, attending, and speaking at conferences, and fostering innovation.
  • Knowledge of and ability to accelerate Portfolio Flow by applying the various techniques and tools. Educate and coach others to apply Flow Accelerators to improve performance.
  • Facilitates senior executive sessions and/or large groups of people (Teams, ARTs, Solution Trains). Is recognized and sought after as a trainer with high feedback scores. Facilitates train-the-trainer in course enablement as well as coaching and facilitating. Defines Leadership training, connecting enterprise strategy to portfolio-specific challenges and opportunities.
  • Delivers a continuous flow of Epics to achieve the Portfolio vision, value stream KPIs, and strategic themes with OKRs in the wake of roadblocks, interruptions, and showstoppers. Navigates, coaches, and applies lean thinking and systems view to coach leaders and stakeholders at the Portfolio level to achieve business outcomes and achieving business agility. Works with executives on personal agility, team-based agility with their SLTs, and how to be exemplary lean-agile leaders.
  • Upskills Release Train Engineers and Solution Train Engineers to set them up for success. Coaches executives on agility-based delivery, connecting strategy to execution. Educates facilitates, and measures all SAFe Core competencies of business agility. Enables portfolio roles to track and report ADM metrics to aid in accelerating overall Agile transformation and maturity efforts. Supports respective LACE to achieve success with ADM adoption and maturity. Ability to lead a LACE serving one highly complex portfolio or multiple smaller portfolios (regional).
  • Understands risk, financial, and strategic elements that impact a given portfolio. Applies systems thinking to improve the performance of the portfolio. Uses systems thinking to look across multiple portfolios and see how value flows through multiple business domains. Can extend agility practices in other corporate functions.
  • Full people management responsibility for mentoring team coaches and RTEs. Direct reports could include Scrum Leads, RTEs, and STEs with knowledge of the business domain to coach appropriately.


What You Need To Succeed:
Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's in information systems, computer science, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Agile Coaching, Portfolio Management, and Agile Metrics and Reporting, with more than five years implementing the SAFe framework.
  • Industry-recognized Advanced Agile or Professional Coaching certifications from PMI, Scrum Alliance, etc.
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively navigate formal and informal communication and decision-making channels. Demonstrated excellence in communication and stakeholder management.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in building and guiding diverse - onshore, offshore, and vendor teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong SAFe expertise and Agile experience. Knowledge of DevOps-CI/CD, testing, metrics, portfolio management, and collaborating with business, IT Finance, and technical leaders.
  • Ability to secure buy-in from diverse stakeholders and influence without authority.
  • Drive to continuously improve, foster an Agile mindset, track Agile assessments, build an Agile maturity model, and promote a culture of continuous learning.

The salary range for applicants for this position is 105,900-178,500.
