Senior Software Development Engineer (Sr SDE) - SRE

In this role you will contribute to a critical and highly-visible function within the Esper business. You will be given the opportunity to autonomously deliver the technical direction of the service, and the feature roadmap. What you'll do

  • Improve Esper Platform by planning, recommending and executing strategic projects.
  • Use metrics and data to provide insights on customer usage, bottlenecks, future requirements, security and scalability of the platform.
  • Create standards, guidelines, sample projects, demos to influence engineering teams to write stable, secure, maintainable and quality code.
  • Work with distributed teams to drive changes, write RCAs and coordinate resolution for production incidents.
  • Objectively assess new technologies, tools, frameworks and design patterns for adoption into Esper Platform.
  • Become the Subject Matter Expert(SME) for the DevOps team.
  • Responsible for all the SRE tasks in performance testing
  • Responsible for all the SRE tasks in Integration test automation
  • Responsible for all the SRE tasks in API test automation
  • Responsible for release related tasks


What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of Experience
  • Hands on experience in building and managing cloud systems on one or more providers e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure etc
  • Knowledge of CS fundamentals like Data Structures, Algorithms, OS and Networks
  • Experience in in designing, developing and deploying at least one customer facing project
  • Hands on knowledge of scripting or any modern programming languages.
  • Experience in developing and deploying on UNIX/Linux based systems.
  • Hands-on experience in performance optimization using multiple metrics.
  • Hands-on experience in microservices and container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift etc.
  • Understanding of best security practices for implementing IAC, automation and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience in Jenkins, Buildkite.
  • Knowledge on Performance testing and Automation testing.
