Principal Engineer
Voltage Park is building an AI cloud infrastructure business from the ground up. As part of this effort, we’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer to build, design and implement the Voltage Park platform and tooling for our customers. You’ll play a pivotal role in building the product, and as an early hire, you’ll also have outsize influence in defining the company’s culture and ensuring mission success.
What you’ll do:
Lead the design and development of scalable, reliable, and secure cloud management software.
Select core technologies and frameworks both for technical specs, and non-technical considerations such as release velocity and hiring
Architect critical backend and frontend components
Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
Participate in architectural discussions, design reviews, and sprint planning sessions to contribute to product roadmap and strategy.
Mentor engineers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure project success.
Drive the adoption of best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes within the engineering team.
Conduct code reviews, performance optimizations, and troubleshooting to ensure the stability and performance of the product.
Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
Work closely with SREs to automate deployment processes, monitor system performance, and improve overall efficiency.
Qualifications:
Experience building complex web products from 0 to 1, architecture and software engineering
Expertise in languages such as Go, Rust, Python, C++ or Java.
Experience with architecture and design of complex, highly available, fault-tolerant, distributed systems and applications.
Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment as a mentor, technical leader, and coach
Understanding of infrastructure design in a Unix/Linux environment
Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and common infrastructure tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible
You’re comfortable with a high degree of autonomy, prioritize your work, and understand how it maps to the overall needs and goals of the company
You’re knowledgeable in your domain but also enjoy wearing multiple hats and venturing outside of your comfort zone when the need arises
Nice to have: Experience building cloud orchestration products with Kubernetes or similar
Bonus: experience working with bare metal or hardware

Compensation Range: $180K - $225K
