We Support all areas of MetLife in developing and implementing the MetLife and GTO strategy -- Business Units, Global Operations, Application Development, Info Sec, Data and Analytics and Infrastructure.
Description
MetLife is seeking a Principal Architect to support enterprise and solution architecture across the US Group portfolio. You will report to the Chief Architect for US Technology and be responsible for delivering architectural roadmaps and solution architectures aligned to one or more US portfolios. You will have the opportunity to lead the architecture of innovative enterprise solutions spanning multiple domains including digital channels, security, integrations, data, AI, cloud and infrastructure. You will ensure alignment with enterprise strategies, roadmaps and standards by building relationships across business, Technology and enterprise partners.
The Role:
Key Responsibilities:

  • Create 3-year roadmaps aligning Line of Business strategic and tactical needs with modern enterprise architectures.
  • Delivers fit for purpose, secure, scalable, architectures in an agile framework that evolves with the line of business via collaboration with AD teams, business, and engineering across all levels of the organization.
  • Domain expert and technical authority within US Insurance organization with demonstrable hands-on skills.
  • Enable AI based solutions aligned with enterprise standards
  • Utilize Cloud technologies preferably Azure to enable PaaS centric enterprise solutions.
  • Keeps abreast of current and future technology trends especially those fit for purpose for the LOB.
  • Provide leadership in developing standards, architectural patterns, ensuing architectural governance and best practices.
  • As a technical leader, by example you will mentor junior architects capabilities to apply modern technology and technique for enterprise solutions.
  • Evangelize and raise the bar technically of the whole US Technology Architecture organization through training, publishing, and mentoring.


Key Relationships:
Reports to: Director of US Group Technology Architecture
Key Stakeholders: CIO US Technology, Portfolio leads across US technology(Life, Dental, Disability, Voluntary, etc)
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Computer Science, Information Technology, Math or other engineering equivalent)
  • Superior written and verbal skills
  • 10+ years' experience Designing, Developing, Delivering, and Architecting Enterprise business solutions.
  • Experience architecting enterprise solutions around SaaS and PaaS technologies and solutions in the insurance tech domain
  • Experience architecting for new policy administration and claims systems, including legacy system migrations is a plus
  • Group or retail life and annuity insurance industry experience is a plus
  • Experience implementing a Cloud data stack utilizing one or more of the following technologies: AKS, ASE, Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Bricks, Cosmos DB, SQL DB, etc
  • 2 + years recent applied experience delivering solutions in an Agile Framework. Preferably SAFE.
  • 10 + years of experience of architecting enterprise distributed systems ensuring Security, Resilience
