Basic Function
The Software Engineer is responsible for the design, architecture and implementation/integration of Web Analytics and related technology on Wolters Kluwer applications/sites according to best practices and guidelines.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
- Support of the Web Analytics technical framework for an enterprise Web Analytics program
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert on Analytics implementation and help to the business in adoption and use of Digital Analytics
- Work in collaboration with stakeholders from all areas of the business to build consensus for requirements for web analytics tracking and ensure business requirements are met through the technical specifications and implementation; communicate complex functionality in a way that is understandable to individuals in non-technical roles
- Provide subject level guidance to product development teams as they implement the digital data layer technical specifications
- Perform quality assurance testing activities to ensure accurate and efficient data collection following through with optimization recommendations
- Troubleshoot reported issues from product development teams and support and collaboration on solutions.
- Act on opportunities to recommend innovative and best practice solutions to improve digital data capture and use
- Installation, configuration, and management of analytics tracking and other tags using a tag manager; complete and maintain documentation of projects that are assigned through our technology backlog
Other Duties
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Digital Analytics tools and practices; Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience -using best practices to deploy and manage all analytics, marketing, and advertising tags necessary to customize the customer experience.
- Experience in integrating solutions and reporting within the Google Analytics platforms (GA360 and GA4) is a must
- Adobe Experience Cloud ecosystem experience preferred
- PowerBI skill set is an added bonus
- In-depth conceptual and practical knowledge all components of web analytics implementation including, but not limited to, solution design and technical specifications, tag management, app measurement, plug-ins, campaign tracking, server calls, cookies, variables (props, eVars, events, goals), Report Suite Administration, Data Connectors, SAINT classifications, calculated metrics, link tracking, Analytics Reporting APIs
- Expert-level experience with JavaScript/Ajax/jQuery and understanding of the Document Object Model
- Strong technical acumen and experience in HTML, CSS, and an understanding of the implications of the location of data layer code in the html for Multiple Page Applications (MPAs) vs Single Page Applications (SPAs)
- Familiarity in .NET platform and familiarity with Azure
- Familiarity with source control, versioning, no-fail deployments a plus.
- Familiarity with Scrum/Kanban methodology
- Familiarity with web concepts like SEO, WCAG a plus.
