JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Summary
Officer position responsible for providing overall management and direction of Risk Control strategy for construction industry. Directs the development and implementation of construction business strategic and operational objectives for Risk Control, in accordance with the company's strategic objectives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Drives implementation of construction strategic and operational objectives with significant impact on the short-term success of Risk Control in construction industry business and moderate impact on the long-term success of the company.
2. Partners with senior management, Underwriting and other internal departments to develop and monitor the implementation of construction strategic objectives and projects for the Risk Control function.
3. Maintains strong relationships with internal and external construction business partners to create a collaborative environment, promote construction industry leading products and services and pursue commercial construction market opportunities.
4. Leads, directs and has full management accountability for staff in area of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with corporate strategic direction.
5. Identifies scope of Risk Control services, products and marketing initiatives to align with the construction industry underwriting strategy. Includes providing overall direction and support for the development of services, products and marketing activities that differentiate CNA in the commercial construction risk market.
6. Directs development, implementation and continuous review of Risk Control quality improvement programs.
7. May represent the company through speaking engagements, faculty appointments, industry conferences and authored materials.
8. Develops distinctive and winning strategies and drives continuous improvement in both internal operational efficiencies and external client services to optimize resource utilization and deliver a positive impact on corporate results.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Mastery of construction industry risk control discipline, professional field or formal body of knowledge, i.e., risk management principles and risk-reduction interventions and deep understanding of the critical issues in other related areas such as emerging trends and risk exposures in the construction industry.
2. Advanced communication skills which are critical to building consensus across area of influence (external and/or internal relationships), team and/or matrix environment.
3. Strong leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
4. Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving significant problems within scope of responsibility.
5. Extensive knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services.
6. Advanced knowledge of construction science and emerging industry issues.
7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree with Master's preferred in business, finance, or risk management or other related discipline, or equivalent.
2. Typically a minimum of 15 years of related risk management work experience, with seven years management experience.
3. Applicable certifications preferred.
