At the ING corporate head office based in Amsterdam the position for a VAT Accounting & (Tax) Technology Specialist has arisen.
The Team
You will be a part of the Group Tax department (total 25 people). Group Tax provides high-quality tax support to ING’s management and businesses. The team works together with ING’s business lines and other support functions and performs an oversight role in respect of ING’s non-Dutch units.
In the last couple of years ING started automating the VAT processes in close cooperation with ING’s Finance departments and have built a VAT Data Lake. Meanwhile, legislation and regulations are further developing (e.g. ViDA, e-invoicing) and require taxpayers to further digitalize their processes to ensure compliance and control.
You as our new, VAT accounting & (Tax) Technology Specialist, will have an unique role in ING’s Group Tax department. You will focus on implementing and operating compliance processes and process improvements and have the opportunity to help driving the digital agenda of ING Group Tax for VAT but possibly also other for other taxes. You will be a linking pin between the in-house tax advisors, finance colleagues and the Tech department.

Role & Responsibilities
- Act as a linking pin between Group Tax and other departments in relation to accounting and technology (Finance, Risk, Compliance and Tech Departments).
- Execution of existing VAT infrastructure and process (VAT Data Solution: Alteryx, DecoHelper and Qlik Sense).
- Support the design, implementation and maintenance of ING Group’s VAT technology roadmap (Cost Perform implementation, allowing direct allocation of input VAT).
- Implement, operate and improve VAT compliance and reporting processes (pro rata, VAT returns, CESOP etc.).
- Help driving the digital agenda of ING Group Tax for VAT in building a future proof automated VAT accounting and reporting process (e.g. prepare for ViDA and (local) e-invoicing /e-reporting).
- Assist in improving, executing and documenting the Tax Control Framework and corresponding control and monitoring standards. Contributing to the transition from excel-based calculations by building and maintaining dashboards and automation solutions.
- There is an opportunity to expand your horizon in taking up similar tasks for other taxes.

You have good communicative skills and you are an open and enthusiastic person with a can-do mentality. A team player who can also work independently, solution oriented. In addition, we look for the following:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant working experience; working experience in Financial Services/ Big 4 is a plus.
- Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in economics, tax, data science, accounting, or finance.
- Proficiency in Financial Accounting (reporting, processes and consolidation)
- Familiar with PeopleSoft CIA (tables, structures and query functionality) is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office as well as data handling, modelling and dashboarding tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, Qlik Sense, Tableau, VBA).
- Knowledge of VAT and/or other (Indirect) Taxes is a plus.
- Knowledge of building data analytics solutions using programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python) is a plus.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Team player, strong attention to detail, ability to effectively partner with cross-functional stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
