The Role

About SailPoint:
SailPoint is the leader in identity security for the cloud enterprise. Our identity security solutions secure and enable thousands of companies worldwide, giving our customers unmatched visibility into the entirety of their digital workforce, ensuring workers have the right access to do their job - no more, no less.
About you:
You're an experienced front-end (web applications) software engineering manager with a good understanding of single-page applications and REST APIs. You want your teams to build likable, efficient and accessible user interfaces to set the bar for quality across the organization. You know that each team is itself a system, and the best way to optimize it is by working excellently with people while also understanding the technology. You know how to find, hire and retain top talent to build mission-critical SaaS UIs while coaching them to become better and embracing the uniqueness they bring to their team.
You will lead and support a team of front-end developers who own some common UI experiences in our enterprise products, and who empower other engineering teams at the company through common libraries, frameworks and design patterns. You will have many internal stakeholders across teams, and effectively collaborating with all of them to help them with those common UI capabilities will be important for this role. You should form opinions about what the team should do based on careful and active listening to your team members and your stakeholders. Then, your teams will deliver great UIs and make our teams' and customers' interactions with our product that much better.
In turn, you will have the opportunity to develop and grow as a manager and leader of people. You will receive thoughtful coaching, consistent feedback, collaboration on your career path, and support to learn and pursue success for your own career. You will gain experience through shipping great software, and leading teams through a complex environment to support customers and other teams throughout the organization.
What You'll Make Happen:

  • Listen to what your team needs to deliver better UI software, then proactively do those things.
  • Partner with Product Management to ensure your teams have clear tactical and strategic backlogs.
  • Balance competing priorities to ensure we effectively ship new features while resolving defects and managing technical debt.
  • Introduce, run, tweak, and optimize team project management processes, as the principal owner of your team's delivery.
  • Recruit, coach, develop, and motivate high performing front-end developers.
  • Proactively seek to listen and find alignment with other engineering teams and stakeholders by understanding your teams' technology, building strong relationships, and insisting on high-quality solutions that solve multiple strategic challenges at once.

You Get Excited By:

  • Your team achieving real business results and incremental milestones
  • Delighting our customers and end users
  • Coaching and developing engineers on your team along their chosen career paths
  • Using data to objectively measure impact and optimize both your team's software and processes
  • Meeting deadlines and coordinating with technical team members in order to deliver quality results
  • Attracting and motivating excellent engineers who care about great teams and great software

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in a Software Engineering Management role on front-end web applications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Software Engineer
  • Results focused with a track record of success working in an Agile environment
  • Experience building and managing a team of Software Engineers
  • An exceptional mentor and leader with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to pick up new technologies quickly.

Education:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or similar, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Location: Remote within the United States or Canada
