Ziegler currently has an opening for a Territory Manager. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with customers in the assigned territory. The Territory Manager represents the Caterpillar product line, providing information on products, prices, availability, product uses and credit terms. This position functions as the first point of contact for the customer and therefore must stay current on all products and technology in order to sell equipment, provide demonstrations, and help develop state of the art solutions for customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains customer records and tracks opportunities in sales link, to include sales leads, sales and lost sales

  • Prepares accurate and timely quotes for customers on new and used equipment

  • Tracks and maintains availability listings for equipment

  • Prepares sales contracts for obtained orders and submits those orders for processing

  • Develops a territory coverage plan including budget, competitive analysis and forecasting

  • Manages customer equipment issues and questions by researching and providing customers with recommendations

  • Collaborates with various departments and groups during the sales process, encouraging team selling

  • Evaluates sales deals from a comprehensive dealership perspective

  • Works closely with CSRs and Branch personnel to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues

  • Meets and responds to the needs of assigned customers in a professional and timely manner

  • Maintains a proficient level of mechanical aptitude and understanding of products and services

  • Prepares customer quotes for the rent, lease or sale of a machine for the sale of a machine

  • Identifies prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences

  • Answers customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms

  • Emphasizes product features based on analyses of customers' needs, and on technical knowledge of product capabilities

  • Completes machine inspections and documents potential issues

  • Resolves customer issues both within and out of the direct sales process

  • Works in a cooperative manner with team and superiors

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required; 4-year degree in business or construction-related field preferred

  • 2+ years of successful sales experience selling heavy equipment or working with related equipment required

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal

  • Personal characteristics: self-motivated, committed/dependable, conflict management, customer focus, sociable, team player

  • Clean driving record

Travel:

  • Up to 10% travel

Minimum Physical Requirements:

• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing
• Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be moderate at times.

The total compensation (base plus incentive) for this position is

$168,900.00 to $253,500.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, and education. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:
