Amex GBT is seeking a Technical Manager to lead automation excellence, AI adoption, and cross-functional project delivery within our Customer Analytics organization. In this role, you will balance hands-on project execution with strategic innovation, driving operational modernization across teams. You will serve as the subject matter expert on automation platforms and emerging technologies, while acting as a trusted partner to leadership and peer functions on tooling and platform needs.

What You'll Do

  • Create and lead the team's automation and AI adoption strategy, identifying and prioritizing opportunities to improve efficiency and scalability aligned to enterprise goals
  • Own end-to-end delivery of technical, automation, and migration initiatives, ensuring objectives, timelines, and quality standards are consistently met
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans covering milestones, dependencies, risks, and resource requirements
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to align on priorities and communicate project status, risks, and decisions with clarity
  • Provide dotted-line advisory support to peer teams on technical platform and tooling requirements for analyst populations supporting customer operations
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with stakeholders to drive engagements efficiently
  • Facilitate structured project meetings and distribute timely notes with clear ownership and deadlines
  • Manage escalations with urgency, conduct root cause analysis and present findings and corrective actions to leadership
  • Define and enforce quality governance and performance metrics across all project deliverables
  • Drive post-project reviews and apply lessons learned to continuously improve team processes and delivery frameworks
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation including SOPs, automation repositories, and project trackers in SharePoint
  • Lead and manage team performance, providing clear direction, coaching supporting growth

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in project management, automation, or technical operations, with a strong track record of delivering complex cross-functional initiatives
  • 3+ years of stakeholder management experience, customer facing is highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with automation and data platforms; proficiency in Alteryx, Power BI, or equivalent tools required
  • Familiarity with AI tools and a demonstrated ability to evaluate and apply them in an operational context
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to interrogate large datasets and coordinate issue resolution across multiple teams and platforms
  • Strong drive to innovate and modernize legacy processes using emerging technology, including AI, to improve operational efficiency and user experience
  • Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders across all organizational levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment with global stakeholders
  • Travel industry, Travel Operations, or TMC experience is a plus
  • Ability to work in flexible business hours to cover different time zones, when needed
