Neptune Pacific is strengthening its fleet discipline and technical standards across the Pacific. We are seeking a Technical Manager – Equipment Maintenance & Repair (EMR) to own technical frameworks, repair decision quality, and recovery outcomes across our container fleet.
Job DescriptionAbout the Role
Reporting to the Group Depot & Transport Manager, this role is accountable for defining and governing Equipment Maintenance & Repair (EMR) standards across the network. You will set the technical frameworks that drive consistent repair, offhire, and disposal decisions, and ensure these standards are applied in practice across all depots.
You will provide technical oversight of fleet performance, with a critical focus on reefer reliability in service. This includes defining standards, identifying systemic issues, and driving resolutions. The role also owns the technical framework for cost recovery, ensuring clear rules, evidence standards, and escalation pathways are in place to support recovery of third-party damage costs.
You will lead the EMR Specialist function, setting priorities and governing execution, while ensuring consistency of technical decision-making across the network. Training delivery sits within the EMR Specialists — your role is to define standards, enforce controls, and ensure technical discipline is maintained.
This role sits at the centre of the operating model. You will not own fleet strategy or deployment decisions, but you will define how the fleet is maintained, repaired, and governed, and ensure those standards deliver consistent operational and commercial outcomes.
QualificationsWhat you will bring to the table:
- IICL (Institute of International Container Lessors) certification is preferred
- 10+ years’ experience in container M&R, depot operations, or fleet operational environments
- Strong understanding of EMR systems, controls, and audit frameworks
- Strong background in container survey, repair, and estimate validation
- Ability to influence outcomes across diverse teams
- Experience working across multi-site and/or multi-country operations
You will bring strong leadership and influencing capability with a practical, hands-on approach to operational improvement. Your excellent coaching and communication skills, high attention to detail and strong documentation capability will be key to success in this role.
You will also have the ability to operate independently across multiple geographies as well as holding a strong commitment to safety, consistency, and operational excellence.
This is a permanent position based in Auckland. All applicants must have the right to live and work in New Zealand at the time of applying. The successful candidate may be subject to undergo a Police Check and/or Pre-Employment Drug Test.
