Overview

1047 Games began with the simple principle that people should have fun while making great games. Bucking convention and driven by a passion to create the ultimate gaming experience, Ian Proulx and Nicholas Bagamian founded 1047 Games in 2017 in their Stanford dorm room. Their love for arena shooters of the past drove them to create Splitgate, a unique sci-fi first-person shooter that adds portal guns to upend the genre.

What started as two computer science majors putting portals into a first-person shooter for a project demo has evolved into a VC-backed company which has raised more than $120MM in funding.

At 1047 Games, you’ll find a permanently remote, dedicated team of top-tier talent from some of the world’s biggest gaming and tech companies who share our founders’ vision. Grit, ingenuity, a desire to have fun, and a start up mentality define our crew. We are currently working on a brand new shooter in the Splitgate universe.

As a Technical Level Designer, you'll craft systems for maps that will engage and delight players, and help inform your team's choices about design, tech debt, tools, and workflows.

What We're Looking For:

  • A skilled designer, with experience building and debugging game logic, using UE5 Blueprints
  • An environmental storyteller, who can bring a static world to life with engaging systems.
  • An ability to communicate between engineers and designers
  • A passion for gaming: You can articulate what separates exceptional games from the average ones
  • A desire to understand the mindset of players, and to build content that will delight them
  • A resident of Earth. We’re fully remote, with employees and individual contractors from around the world!

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Work closely with the level design team and environment artists to craft content that will delight players
  • Build modular systems with Unreal blueprints for your team to use
  • Stay fully versed in the current and long-term design objectives of your project, and represent those objectives in cross-discipline programming and art discussions
  • Identify shortcomings in workflows you encounter, and collaborate with the team to improve them

What You Will Need:

  • At least 3+ years of games production experience involving scripting and scenario/quest design
    • Previous level design experience is a bonus
  • Knowledge of scripting/programming in C++
  • Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine Blueprints
  • Effective at communicating across disciplines: artists, animators, engineers, producers
  • Ability and desire to think creatively, to resolve technical challenges and limitations
  • A Passion for Games!
