Systems Engineer

We are a fast-moving, growing company with a serious need to build on our strong team. We are looking for a Systems Engineer for our Rosemont location.

As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will work closely with our development, operations, and support teams to deliver seamless, high-quality SaaS products to our customers. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in systems engineering, cloud technologies, and automation.

Responsibilities include:

• Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and reliable network and systems infrastructure to support our SaaS platform.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for cloud resource provisioning, configuration, and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), or Ansible.
• Collaborate with Development and DevOps teams to optimize application deployment and performance, integrating IaC practices into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Administer a range of SaaS applications including Google Workspace, O365, Jira/Confluence/Bitbucket.
• Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and hardware.
• Perform regular system audits, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
• Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Provide engineering consulting and recommendations for new IT systems to ensure the interoperability and adherence to technology standards and policies
• Maintain an inventory of hardware and software assets.
• Document technical procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for networks, systems, and devices.
• Respond to support requests via ticketing system, email, chat, phone, and in person.
• Manage projects and meet deliverables according to a set timeline.
• Specific duties and responsibilities may be requested depending on company need without changing the general nature and scope of the job or level of responsibility.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in a SaaS or technology-focused environment.
• Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows as well has UNIX / Linux based systems
• Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g., IIS, NGINX)
• Solid Cloud experience (e.g. Azure, GCP, AWS)
• Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
• Experience with monitoring and dashboard tools (e.g. Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana)
• Experience with automation and infrastructure as code software (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• Solid scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)
• Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP, VPN)
• Knowledgeable about security scanning tools (e.g. Snyk, Tenable)
