CSG is organized by core customer-facing lines of business to manage and grow programs within NASA, NOAA, and the NNSA, while extending our capabilities to other civilian federal government agencies fully integrated within Aerospace rules, regulations, processes, values, and behaviors.
This role will lead the team and work content associated with programmatic and technical advisory capabilities to NASA in support of the Space Operations Mission Directorate (SOMD). You will also be responsible for providing leadership, planning, and direction of technical office staff and operations. Assigning resources, determining staffing needs, and coordinating activities and operations among subordinate units.
Work Model
This position is a full-time position that will be based in Washington, DC or Houston, TX, offering a hybrid work model that combines 4 regular workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You'll Be Doing
Serve as a technical and programmatic advisor to NASA Headquarters Mission Directors and NASA Program Managers, focusing on Space Operations Mission Directorate content

  • Advise on government human spaceflight strategies and policy, this includes evaluating approaches and recommendations to improve mission success
  • Support strategy development and facilitate reviews at the agency level, reviews can include baseline performance reviews, agency level boards and decision-making forums, independent review team, and standing review board activities
  • Work with highest levels of agency leadership to architect plans and strategies
  • Deep understanding and hands on experience working international matters
  • Lead strategic and independent analysis activities for Aerospace and customers, finding solutions and making recommendations on path forward
  • Support identification of high value FFRDC functions for NASA, translating customer technical needs into critical priorities of national interest, manage budget constraints, plan and execute staffing as required


What You Need to be Successful- Systems Director, Systems Engineering & Program Management
Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in engineering, science, mathematics
  • 12 or more years of experience in program management, engineering, and in commercial and international relations
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including team building/leadership, conflict resolution, staffing and customer relationship building.
  • Demonstrated NASA experience in systems engineering, cost, schedule and risk evaluation.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills - clear, concise, persuasive; builds consensus through speaking; polished, professional style.
  • Excellent written communication skills - organize complex materials and concepts in clear and logical manner.
  • Proven ability to develop/maintain rapport and work effectively with senior government officials.
  • Dynamic self-starter with attention to detail, work ethic, strategic thinking regarding customer needs, competitive positioning, the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA Organizations, Projects, and Programs.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% Aero location or customer site/domestically/internationally] approx. 10%.
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


How You Can Stand Out

  • Master's technical degree
  • 15+ years in human spaceflight administration of technical content and missions, including international partnerships
  • Deep knowledge of the International Space Station (ISS) program and processes as well as human spaceflight matters
