Eaton's IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Sustaining Product Engineer. This position will be a part of Eaton's Aerospace group, specifically supporting the Irvine California facility. This facility has roughly 200 employees, with output in excess of $100M annually.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $65250.0 - $95700.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

The Sustaining Product Engineer will be responsible for resolving production product design problems and field return design issues related to sustaining (current production) fuel component designs. These components include fuel valves, fuel floats, solenoid valves, and hydro-mechanical pumps used in military and commercial aerospace applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Coordinate timely and cost-effective responses to technical inquiries from customers and end users regarding products in service.• Investigate reported problems for fielded products to establish root causes.• Support the Operations organization in daily Tier meetings.• Assist Engineering Management in ensuring timely disposition of non-conforming hardware without compromising final product quality, which could lead to operational deficiencies in the field.• Apply principles of Design for Six Sigma and Red X to address 8-D (Eight Disciplines) problem-solving methodology.• Work through RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) processes to identify and resolve issues.• Define required work tasks for support personnel.• Prepare clear and concise reports documenting conclusions and recommended corrective actions.• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Quality teams to define Product Improvement changes that enhance aftermarket opportunities and drive cost-out initiatives.• Help Identify and implement cost-out projects for the site.• Provide support to supply chain and manufacturing cost-out efforts.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of Irvine, CA will be considered for this position. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills
  • 2+ years of experience trouble shooting and problem solving
  • Aerospace or Automotive industry experience preferred
  • Experience in product design, development, and/or production design problem resolution experience.
  • Ability to develop solutions to problems utilizing formal education, statistical knowledge, experiment design, industry literature, and problem-solving tools
  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences with different levels of technical knowledge.
  • Basic skills in disassembly and assembly of mechanical components
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma (DMAIC), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), or Shainin Red X certification
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%, with some international travel.
