The opportunity

The Staff Writer, IT Channel News is responsible for creating high-quality, authoritative content for technology buyers and related professionals with a focus on the B2B technology channel industry. You will work closely with our Managing Editor and Director of Content, and work collaboratively with other content team members. You will have the opportunity to grow your subject matter expertise to influence and impact the growth of Channel Insider. 

You will develop coverage on the managed service channel as it experiences new opportunities and ongoing change in light of emerging technologies and changing buying habits. You have the opportunity to make your editorial mark on news and other content sought after by IT decision-makers. 


What you'll do

  • Conduct and analyze web research into products, technologies, companies
  • Suggest coverage topics and collaborate with editorial leadership to increase and expand high-quality news coverage in a growing market 
  • Build a communication pipeline between Operations, Revenue, our Media Personality, and Editorial
  • Write publishable first drafts of explainer, top product comparisons, and other article types or work equivalent
  • Grasp and explain complex concepts clearly and authoritatively
  • Consistently meet deadlines with articles of the highest quality
  • Learn and employ our product-scoring rubric to inform “top product” articles and keyword research
  • Clearly articulate the best answer to readers’ questions with the guidance of the editor
  • Create copy that can be used in supplemental content elements 
  • Follow SEO team guidance and on-page SEO best practices to strengthen article rankings
  • Understand how each piece of content fits within the buyer journey
  • Work closely with our WordPress Production Assistant, Graphic Designers, or other available resources when necessary
  • Analyze performance data related to previously written content
  • Suggest elements in their content and use of call out boxes, 10x graphics, and lead magnets


Who you are

  • 2+ years of tech writing or news writing experience. Preferred experience in the IT managed services channel, but at a minimum must demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn about a niche industry and form necessary relationships for sourcing
  • Previous data-specific research and writing experience and can share samples of your work, or work experience in a related field or environment
  • Strong phone and virtual interviewing skills
  • Solid news judgement on how to identify, research and best cover trending topics and find exclusive stories
  • Research skills and the ability to add contextual analysis to research particularly across verticals including cybersecurity, cloud computing, and emerging solutions such as AI, is highly preferred
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Highly collaborative and organized
  • Love finding ways to keep operations efficient while not letting quality suffer
  • Self-motivated and able to manage your time with little oversight
  • Open to feedback and strive to learn something new every day
  • Passionate about delivering the best answers to people’s questions
  • Agile professional who excels in a fast-paced environment and thrives on continuously pivoting strategies to drive business needs forward

Salary Range
TechnologyAdvice seeks to hire top-tier individuals across the world and intends for our compensation to be at a rate that allows us to recruit and retain individuals who align with our core values, purpose, mission, and vision.   
Final total compensation is based on a multitude of factors including, but not limited to, skill level, relevant experience to the position, and cost of labor.

Annual pay range

$60,000$80,000 USD
